There are so many other cozy, food-related mysteries I'm not sure why I keep reading the Cheese Shop Mysteries, especially when I have to buy them. But I've now finished #3 and figure I might as well go on to the next one. I know the main characters and want to know what happens next in their lives I suppose. There are several romances blooming so I would like to see if marriages actually occur (thank heavens that creep Chip is out of the running!). At least there aren't that many books left so it won't cost me a fortune (unlike those wonderful Brunetti Venetian mysteries where there are over 23 at last count none of which I can get from my libraries as an epub book...only audio books which I do NOT want!). Oh well, guess I'll stick with cheese for now......... I am loving this series! And it all started with winning a print copy of the first book in The Cheese Shop Mysteries by Avery Aames in an online contest last year. Charlotte Bessette is part-owner/operator Fromagerie Bessette in Providence, Ohio. She is fiercely loyal to family and friends, while sometimes being more forgiving of people that is strictly healthy or safe. (I sometimes feel like an older sister to Charlotte and want to "give her a good talking to" about some of the choices she makes ... like you want to shout at the screen when watching a horror movie and the main character is about to open that door....)In "Clobbered by Camembert", Providence is about to have a winter festival and Fromagerie Bessette has a booth, "La Petite Fromagerie". It's interesting to see how the staff of one shop becomes the staff of two shops, even if it is only for a couple of days. As in many small towns, young people who have left to seek their fortune often come back to their roots, some to raise families, others (like Kaitlyn Clydesdale) to raise a ruckus. She should've remembered that small town residents don't care for outsiders coming in and changing things too quickly. But, like so many 'city folk', she things she can outwit the locals. But then someone outwits her and she winds up dead on the floor of the ex-Amish-Fromagerie-clerk Rebecca's cottage. The romance between Rebecca and Ipo Ho (a honeybee farmer from Hawaii) is really sweet, and when Rebecca talks about them 'going to do it', it's not necessarily what you might think. When suspicion for the crime falls on Ipo, Rebecca's own HYPER-active sense of loyalty makes her difficult for Charlotte to try and control.Add to this already jumbled mix Charlotte's cousin Matthew's ex-wife, Sylvia, Providence's answer to the Kardashian sisters, mucking up his romance with Charlotte's best friend Meredith. But Matthew and Meredith are not the only ones with romantic woes. Charlotte's first love Chip comes back to town (in business with Katie) and tries to win Charlotte back, much to Charlotte's current beau's (Jordan's) chagrin. And then there is Jordan's own mysterious past.Charlotte has her plate full, to be sure. I'd like to have my plate full with some of the scrumptious cheeses and dishes both described in this book. There are also recipes included in back of the book. How cool is that!
What do You think about Clobbered By Camembert (2012)?

Too much cheese! Easy read, good plot but too much padding.
