I decided that seeing I had the three books in this series, I would read them back to back and do one review covering them all. The series is about the Barker sisters, Bobbi-Jo, Billie-Jo and Betty-Jo, but they aren't just sisters, they're identical triplets, or as Gramps refers to them ,"twins". Identical in looks maybe, but certainly not in personalities, these girls couldn't be further from each other in the way act if they tried. Offside.Billie-Jo BarkerLogan ForestThe first book is Billie's story and I must say to start with I found I had to concentrate to keep track of each of the girls, with the similarity in their names, it was a little confusing to start with, but once each sisters personality came through, it was much easier to distinguish one from the other.Billie is a pro hockey player, and good at, with Olympic medals to her credit. Due to more than one concussion, has been dumped from her team. Ice hockey is her life, and she's struggling to come to terms with not being able to play full-on contact anymore. She has returned home to live, and contemplate her future. Now that she's home, there's a good chance she'll run into the guy who broke her heart (and other things) when she was eighteen. The guy she still loves, and would give almost anything for to have him notice her.Being desperate to play hokey again, Billie signs up for what was supposed to be the men's ice hockey league. This doesn't make her very popular with the locals and they aren't shy in letting her know how they feel. Logan is on the team,so theirs no way for Billie to avoid to the man she has loved for so long. This is not a soppy love story, and the chemistry between Logan and Billie is palpable. This was a great start to what I hope will be a good trio of books. I'm looking forward to reading Bobbi-Jo's story, and seeing where that takes us. Betty-Jo's book... mmmm, wait and see, I don't have high expectations for her.....what will her story be, as to why she is so screwed up?These stories pretty much run on from each other, and are really one story about the three girls' lives. CollideBobbi-Jo BarkerShane GallagherBobbi-Jo and Shane have history, history that Bobbi has kept close to her heart for years. But when Bad boy Shane is released from prison after serving his three year sentence, he returns to small town New Waterford, to pick up his life and put the pieces back together again as best he can. If he has anything to do with it, that repair job wont include Bobbi-Jo Barker. The couple have avoided each other so far, but when Bobbi leaves her fiance at the alter, the arms she ends up in are Shane's. They come to an agreement, that their's will be a sex only relationship, no emotions involved. Yeah, that works well.. Not! The chemistry between the couple is electric, and they can barely keep their hands off each other. But they both have secrets, and although Shane comes clean with Bobbi, she doesn't return the favor straight away. When she eventually does tell him her worst secret, he surprises her by accepting that everyone makes mistakes, and that their love for each other is enough to get them through.Another enjoyable story, only complaint was I felt the ending seemed a bit rushed. And so on to Betty's book, there have been some strange things going on with her.....ConcealBetty-Jo BarkerBeau SimonI don't really know what I expected from this book. I knew Betty-Jo held secrets from her past that she didn't want anyone to know about, secrets she felt she was dealing with. Unfortunately, her way of dealing with her issues had been alcohol and drugs, and cutting everyone who cared for her from her feelings. These actions combined to make her the cold fish she appeared to be in the first two books. In Betty's story she has reformed herself. She is now clean and sober, and has a job. Everything is starting to look up for her, when Beau "Hollywood" Simon appears on the scene. Beau and Betty have had 'dealings' with each other, and she is far from impressed when he turns up in town. But, Beau is only in town on business, but that includes meeting with Betty. What will come of putting these two together, will it work out for the best or not? This is the most emotional story of the three, who would have thought so after the way Betty acted in the first two? Another good story in this trio, but one that left a lot of openings. I was left feeling incomplete about some of the characters, Matt and Tucker mostly, there was considerable time given to these two characters and I felt almost robbed, that we couldn't go more deeply into their lives. I'm glad there are two books dedicated to the Simon boys, maybe on day we'll get one for Matt as well? The story of Beau and Betty Jo was a very emotional read. I was getting so caught up in the story. I just really wanted to fix things for Betty and beat the scrap out of Mick. Thanks Beau!!! I love the man that Beau turned out to be, he was just what Betty needed even though things were not good when they first met the connection was there. Wasn't ready for the story to end I still wanted more of them. Hope the author writes a novella revisiting the Baker Triplets!!!
What do You think about Conceal (2013)?
I'm so happy Betty found happiness. I hope Matt does too in a spin off story to this one.
