He’d given her a path straight into his lair and given her the perfect means to steal from him. She’d go to him in his bed. Stay the night. Steal his helmet… and then walk out with it and his power. Rose’s thoughts were in turmoil as she lay in her bath that afternoon. She wanted to stay with Hades. She wanted to tell him who she was. Who she really was. But tonight she would go to his chamber, steal his helmet and the flower, and escape the underworld. And if she did that, she could stay in this place. Near him. Just not with him. She would be betraying his trust. Stealing his prized helm and making him look like a fool. He’d be furious with her. So basically she could have Hades tonight. Tomorrow, she would be back to the sunny fields above and her life as Demeter’s unhappy assistant. Some bargain. To get a second chance at life, she had to give up the man she wanted to remain here for. There was no happy answer.
