This book was mainly about one person trying to not make a book and they hadn't made one for a year and they had got a mermaid from some monkey things and the mermaid was actually a sea monster and they threw her into the sea once they had shrunk her with their shrink ray and they got more monkeys and hypnotised them with a banana and they catapulted them to an island with an ape then it went back to the island with Terry and Andy for another big banana. Before any of that Terry made a flying cat and Jill put a sign on it and she thanked Terry because she really wanted some flying cats and she had thirteen This is a terrific book, especially for young boys who mistakenly think that they don't like to read. It's also a nice treat for an adult who likes to read with kids. The book is silly, funny and interesting from beginning to end, and the illustrations add to the excitement. I read this book with one of my 4th grade students, and he was enthralled, I was motivated to pre-order the 26 Story Tree House due out in April 2014. My student wrote a letter to the author and illustrator about how much he enjoyed the book, and he received a hand-written note and a signed copy of the Australian version of the new book. That experience really has my student hooked on reading now! I've bought several copies for the kids on my family for Christmas.
Hilarious! My middle school students loved this novel! Can't wait for the next one this spring!

I can see boys liking this one. It has a Diary of a Wimpy Kid feel to it.
