Deadly Heat (Deadly, #2) (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

Cynthia Eden just does Romantic Suspense to perfection. I have no idea why I waited so long to get back to this series or why I just never continued before when I knew I would be guaranteed a winner. Fire I’ll tell you though, is a very scary killer. Not at all a way I would want to die, at all. Very frightening. It makes me shutter to just think about what I read. For the first time ever though, I did guess the killer. I have never had that happen before with one of her books but it made absolutely no difference to me and took nothing away from my enjoyment of the book. Honestly, I think the only issue I had with this one is the relationship set up. I got over it but it wasn’t my favorite. So, another great book by Cynthia Eden who has hands down become one of my favorite authors. Read. The heat in this book is pretty intense both in the fires and with the characters. I really liked the way everything came together in this book. I was fascinated by the in depth point of view she gave of arsonists. The writer must have done a great deal of research about the pathology of arsonists because I learned a great deal from her book on the subject. Of course, I liked the main male character. I’d liked him from the first book, and he getting to know him better in this book was great. There were a few things I didn’t see coming, but I did figure out who the arsonists was this time. It wasn’t patently obvious, but the author gave the reader a lot of clues. What I really liked about it was that it wasn’t predictable. Like I said, there were a few things I didn’t see coming, and it wasn’t as easy to figure it all out as one would think, but I did figure it out.The reader is the same reader of all the books in the trilogy, and I love her voice, her intonations, and the way she reads. She is a good reader, and if I can find something else I’d like to read that she animates with her voice, I’ll read it.

3.5 to 4 stars. I like the RS aspect of her books and I do like the romance but in the last two books the heroine has this hard shell where she won't let anyone in at all. From what I read of the excerpt from Sam's book she is the same way. We already have a deranged psycho for the conflict. Why do we always need a broken woman? It just bothers me. However, I do still like the books. The suspense is good and the sex hot so it keeps me interested in reading the story. I like her writing, it keeps me engaged. I am looking forward to Sam's book. I just hope she doesn't drive me crazy. :-)
