I really loved this book. I liked that Bree didn't get what was happening but it wasn't pushed in your face and also wasn't made ridiculous by her not getting obvious clues. Because you as reader were not always sure about some of the supernatural occurrences, like Striker et al. Bree just got on with what needed to be done. The mystery was well done too, not too obvious and the characters were well introduced. I'm looking forward to the next one. I'd never heard of Mary Stanton or the Beaufort & Company mysteries before one of the books, AVENGING ANGELS, was recommended to me. When I discovered this was a series, and being a linear sort of reader (I hate dropping into the middle of an established series), I snagged the first book. I don't quite know how to classify this book, or series for that matter. It's paranormal. It's fantasy. But it's not Urban Fantasy or a Paranormal Romance. It's published by Berkley Prime Crime Mystery but it's not a straight who-done-it, either. It's about a lawyer hired to prove a dead man was murdered, and the "company" she hires when she goes into solo practice in Savannah, Georgia -- the most haunted city in America. I should mention that she's licensed to practice in the Celestial Court. Angels, ghosts, and the law. It doesn't get much more entertaining than that. If you're looking for something a little quirky, with a great southern heroine, some interesting colleagues, and a really cool dog, pick this one up. I'll be reading the rest of the series when I whittle down my TBR list a little more.
