P.W.Catanese does a great job. I really am very glad to have this book. Happenstance-a boy, does not know his identity, from where he came from-absolutely nothing, only the new words filling his mind. The character I like most is Umber. He is funny (and I mean really, I gave in to his crazy adventure side) and powerful, wise and sorrowful. I dunno why but I always do not like the utterly main person (if ya know what I mean :D). Well, aside from that I loved this book and immediately am gonna buy another two :) A fairly compelling beginning to what could prove to be a worthwhile series. Happenstance seems to pale a little in comparison to Umber, whom I find delightful, and his "abilities" seem a little stretched, but as this is book one I realize that the author has more than enough opportunity to further define his characters. I am intentionally writing this review now, though I have books two and three just waiting to be read. I want to judge this as a standalone novel. A major pro to me is the fantasy world that Catanese has created. It seems to be completely original and able to give life to countless adventures. As a devout reader of young adult fantasy, I know and appreciate the value of a truly original idea. Well done.
What do You think about Der Gefundene Junge (2010)?
I am reading books my son wants to read. He would probably enjoy this series down the road.

A well crafted fantasy series. One I'll give to my grandkids. And I'm in for book 2.

A good read and a decent series. It doesn't stand out but I still enjoyed it.
