The book started off good but by the end it got kind of sappy. I liked have Brooks's pov along with Laura's. Some of the plot was predictable. I had a feeling who Joe really was so it wasn't a suprise to find out I was right. I also suspected Alex and Jacqueline would hook up, especially when Jacqueline started mentioning who Alex was. Jacqueline sure was something else and I don't blame Brooks for not wanting to marry her. Maybe if the book had been longer then the ending would not have seemed rushed. Charming story I read in one sitting.Brooks and Laura are realistic characters you have to like. Laura visits her Nana after breaking up with her cheating boyfriend and meets Brooks when he changes her flat tire. He also learns what material to use if he ever wants to make a kite. (If you've read the book you will know what I'm talking about.)At first she thinks he's the gardener but he admits who he really is.Brooks seems to fall for Laura immediately but it doesn't help since he's stuck in a loveless engagement that will join his family and his bitch fiancee's family businesses. You want to choke Jacqueline, the fiancee, because she is making Brooks life a living hell.Laura discovers her mother's old journal and reads it to learn that she loved a guy named Joe before her father. Joe's real identity I guessed early on without really any clues.
Enjoyed the story fell in love with the characters. I loved how it came full circle in the end.

The timeline was too fast for me to make it believable.
