For all of those who complained about how vulgar this book is, did you not realize whose book you were about to read? Do you know Joan? Did you expect her to help you with a bible study?? Get real. She is what she is and makes no pretense of the fact that she is vulgarly over the top.I just realized I am speaking of her in present tense, but i'm going to keep it that way. It's sad to have to write about her in past tense knowing she just recently passed.I've always had a soft spot for her because she reminds me of my own mother who passed a few years ago. Old ladies with potty mouths and a great sense of humor are right up my alley. Joan is one of a kind. If you read this book and took it 100% seriously, Joan is looking down having a good laugh because the joke's on you. I agree with other reviewers, it's hard to rate this book as you either love her biting wit or you hate her vulgarity. At times I think she goes too far as somethings should be off limit but the fact that she exposes herself to the same critique makes some of the cringe-worthy moments, bearable. For those who can take vulgarity and self-deprecation, you'll enjoy her writing style; if you have trouble with off-putting sarcasm, step away from the book.
