Die Unsterbliche Braut (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

In this sequel of the Goddess Test series, we see the newly immortal Kate return after her summer in Europe to spend the other half of the year learning to be Queen of the Underworld with Henry. We encounter the same gods and goddesses as well as meet previously mentioned names from the first book such as the drama-creating Persephone as well as the sweet and wise Ingrid, one of the girls who failed the test. However, due to Calliope's scheming, a deadly enemy force is released and Titans become new key players. There are several battles with unusual injuries, a long journey across the Underworld as well complicated new gifts that buoy this story along until the surprising end. Kate had a very strong voice that was easy to read, though it was sometimes difficult to sympathise with her issues. There were a lot of emotional matters that were circled around frequently such as the uncertain husband/wife arrangement, issue of love as well as the complex idea of identity. It was certainly interesting but did grow tiresome. Was really not a fan of the separation of the two main characters or the devious Calliope character that continued to pop up throughout unwanted. Definitely intrigued to see how the series concludes. Argh I need the next book! i hope that the next book can be a bit more calm. The first is all about doubting the truth of being stuck in the Underworld, this one is all about doubting Henry's feelings. They are fine again by the end, and I would understand a bit of doubt, but by the end I was getting tired of her over-doubting. I like he story enough to want to continue, but I think the author needs to work on her writing a bit. I am also still annoyed about the mess she made of traditional Greek mythology. I can accept it for the sake of the story buy i don't like it. Some parts of the story: like romance agony, and James just felt silly. I don't feel like writing it all out, but i hope the author can do better than this, like others I continued the series because of the potential I saw in her writing but the potential had not been reached the story is still a muddle.
