Dinothesaurus: Prehistoric Poems And Paintings (2009) - Plot & Excerpts
Brachiosaurs, Stegosaurus, Giganotosaurus, Plesiosaurus, Seisosaurus on and on and on. This non-fiction picture book from Douglas Florian is a great way to introduce dinosaurs to a child who loves dinosaurs. We learn what kind of dinosaurs were around, their sizes, their features and so on and so forth. With lots and lots of colorful pictures and rhyming text, not to mention learning ways to pronounce them. Colors swiril together to create each dinosaur and what they may have looked liked. This book will keep a child very involved with the short passages that each page contains. This is a new style of learning because bright pictures captivate the reader. Complete with a great compiled glossary and a list of dinosaur museums and fossils sites to view them this is surely a great book for boys and girls. Great for 2nd to 4th graders. You could use this book for a possible storytime about dinosaurs or for a big program at best. Maybe even a book discussion for 2nd to 5th graders. Oh. What fun. These poems are infomative and cretive, and once paired with the dazzling collage art used, a truly unique book comes to life. What is especially strong about the book is that there are load of small details for young readers to discover, and each reading is sure to yield new finds. The sophisticated side of Florian's art is juxtaposed with an approachable, childlike style that offsets what might be confusing to the child.Suggest to: patrons wanting books about dinsoaurs, poetry, with wonderful illustration, unusual picture books
