This was a great 'I loved to used' story. The d/s aspects of this relationship was seriously hot. I also liked how when he got his punishments he enjoyed the release they brought but he wasn't a masochist so he didn't get off on the pain alone, which I thought was pretty realistic.This was an overall very sweet story with not really any angst between them, which was nice because both characters have to work through enough individually.The only thing I questioned throughout the book was Adams punishment and why he received it. I understand it when it was something he was doing to sabotage himself, like when he convinced himself Denver would leave him. But a few times it felt like he was being punished for things that he did because of his OCD. Anyway it was a very minor complaint. Also at the end when he kept talking about his anxiety and OCD in his horse analogy, it got a bit confusing. My Goodreads ratings are different than my Calibre or Kindle ratings. I strive to be as objective as possible on here at least for the books that weren't uploaded. I've only recently started actually commenting etc... On that note, I'm not sure I can be at all objective on this story. As someone who deals with clinical mental health issues daily both familial and personally, this story just really struck a chord with me. The fact that it wasn't glossed over nor had any easy solutions relieved me. How deftly she illustrated the toll yet showed someone mostly functioning in society and SLOWLY, incrementally improving was phenomenal. That she made it into an interesting story too amazes me. I think those who enjoy contemporary romances with a light BDSM element would enjoy this and possibly gain an understanding into a little understood mental illness too.
