This was a great story, great characters and a fun ride, but first I have to say that Lucky is an ass, egomaniac and all around dick for the first part of this book. But, he also has a heart underneath it all, and his snarky comments had me laughing out loud. Lucky is working off his sentence by working with the Narcotics Bureau, and he is getting near the end and almost has his life back. Lucky has to train is replacement, ex-marine Bo. I liked these two together, they complement each other well and they formed a partnership i want to see more of. This story had excitement, steam, chemistry and it kept me glued to my kindle. The last couple of books I have read have been ho-hum, but this one was a hit! YAY! Thanks to Eden Winters for a great read, I will be reading the next one in this series. I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.3.5 starsLucky Lucklighter prides himself on being difficult. After spending more than five years working for a crime syndicate which specialized in the illegal distribution pharmaceuticals, he is also an expert in drug trafficking. After he is arrested and sent to prison, the Southeastern Narcotics Bureau offers him the chance to convert his prison sentence into a job. Lucky trades his remaining 8 years in prison for an equivalent term of employment with the SNB. The book opens with Lucky near the end of his time with the SNB. He is prickly, distrustful, and always testing the patience of his boss. He is also is conflicted about his past, particularly his decision to testify against his old employer in return for a reduced sentence. Despite his internal turmoil and resentment over not being entirely free, he has excelled at his job. Bo Schollenberger is a pharmacist, former Marine, and new employee of the SNB. Lucky resents his squeaky clean persona but in reality Bo has demons of his own. The two are thrown together when Bo is tasked to go undercover at a pharmacy suspected of illegally distributing pharmaceuticals and Lucky is assigned as his partner/trainer. I appreciate the amount of time the author put into researching prescription drug trafficking. It wasn’t an area I had given much (any) thought and the story drew me in from the beginning. I liked both Lucky and Bo but despite their relationship developing nicely over the course of the book, I was more interested in the trafficking plot than the romance. Overall this book was a really enjoyable read and I plan to read more in the series.
What do You think about Diversion (2014)?
I thought it had a lot of character development and the plot was very original.
