That was so beautiful! It reminded me of a series I watch about the east end, Call the Midwife on netflix, a delightful series about the memoirs of a nurse, Jennifer Worth and her life and passion for the people of the east end in the 1950's. This show helped me to picture exactly what me-me and her families life was like and made me love it even more. Thank you Mark Lawrence for sharing this beautiful story! Recently (since reading Dangerous Women, a collab of short stories) I've developed a fascination with short stories, and was delighted to discover this one was available for free on amazon (Thanks Mark). It's short, sweet, heart-felt, and throws you right into the emotion from page one. Terrible and beautiful, bittersweet. At the end I had tears in my eyes and goosebumps on my arms.
What do You think about During The Dance (2000)?
A quite short, bittersweet contemporary fantasy.
