The beginning of the "Guardians of Childhood" series, readers learn of how the "Man in the Moon" (MiM) came to be. How his parents ship was attacked in outer space by Pitch, the King of Nightmares and the baby MiM had to be saved by Nightlight, his trusty guardian, by stranding him on the moon. MiM then recruits the Sandman, Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus and others to guard children against things like nightmares.Steampunk for early readers! Who knew there would be a wonderful steampunk, picture book for kids? The illustrations are wonderful. Not to creepy for the younger readers/listeners, but just enough creepy to set free the imaginations of the older readers. This is a good first book in this series. The collecting of the Guardians is a little sanguine, but will make for a good jumping off place for the rest of the series. A keeper.
What do You think about El Hombre De La Luna (2012)?
Didn't think the story was all that great. People seem much more impressed with the art.
