I hate to stray away from my 5 star ratings I have given the previous books in this series but unfortunately I was left a bit disappointed and empty after reading this final instalment.I felt that whilst EVERY other character in the book showed great growth and maturity, Eden seemed to become more immature with every page and had me pulling my hair out with her constant tantrums and sometimes just plain blindness as to what was going on around her! I was left feeling that out of 400 or so pages only about 200 were probably necessary. I was expecting an epic finale where the resistance would be at the forefront and bring down the bad guy with an awesome display of unity and strength, however what I got was Edens emotional drama at the forefront and the resistance as a background story and whilst ultimately Eden did her part to 'end it all' I felt that for the majority of the book it was The boys who seemed to do all the work. Not to mention my constant frustrations wishing they would all just come out and tell Eden from the outset what the hell was going on! There were many moments of pure frustration that things could have been avoided with a little honesty from Kiran and Avalon. As for the love triangle..... I was very happy with how it ended but not the fact it took the girl 90% of the book to just finally admit what we all knew and let her heart feel what it did all along! I felt then that their reconciliation and 'picking up where they left off' was rushed and did not give me nearly enough time to enjoy their love that I had been cheering for from the start! Jericho handled his situation well and was right he does deserve someone who loved him completely.I truly would have liked to see more time invested in telling the story of unifying the races and the actual battle as I found it to be very anticlimactic and that despite a couple of moments of death and near death I did not actually shed a tear (which is so unusual for me) I just didn't find the written emotion to be real and therefore drew none of my usual sobbing and hysteria! =)All in all it was an ending that I personally don't quite think lived up to its predecessors and left me feeling a bit empty, I do not regret reading this series and still highly recommend it, I did fall in love with this series but just had slightly higher expectations that weren't quite lived up to with the ending. Wow! This whole series was absolutely amazing! I don't actually read that much and I only read these books because my sister said they were her favorite series and now I'm so glad I did! Although I truly despised the first half of the first book in this series (I'm truly sorry for that Rachel, I don't know what's wrong with me), every moment after Eden falling for Kiran the first time has been amazing. I have now read the Reluctant King and am currently reading the Relentless Warrior and cannot wait for Sebastian's book to come out! Thank you Rachel for giving me something wonderful to read this summer! I am always looking for a good book and couldn't believe that these were out there waiting for me and you weren't famous yet! I mean come on! Can we please have a movie of these now?!!!!! Start reading people so we can make this wonderful author more famous!!!!
