The book was good; not as good as the others in the series, but still good. It was interesting getting to see things from Avalon's perspective for a change - especially the whole twin connection thing with Eden. The story brought back all the characters from the first four books and brought them together for a completely new adventure. I think the author did a fantastic job of setting the stage for a new story, while still remaining true to her original characters. The writing was also good, not as great and beautifully descriptive as the other books, but I get that - the book is from Avalon's perspective after all. I also enjoyed the story - even though there wasn't a whole lot happening for the first half of the book or so. This hasn't been my favourite book from the star-crossed series, but I still greatly enjoyed it and am looking forward to reading the following book, The Relentless Warrior, as soon as I possibly can. Now, don't get me wrong, the book was good, and I am glad to have more of the story, but it seemed like Avalon didn't even learn or change throughout the story. He started off arrogant and selfish, and ended nearly the same. Standing on its own, the story would have been fine, but compared to how hard Kiran had to work for his love, and how drastically the Prince had to change himself to be worthy... Avalon seems to fall short.Of course, I could be slightly biased, since the new and improved Kiran is a hard act to follow.I just wish that Avalon had been humbled a bit more, and maybe felt some of the turmoil that Kiran faced, with the changes necessary to make him a better man. Maybe there will be hope for him in future novels. For fans of the series, the book is worth the purchase. And I can't wait for the next installment. Now to go see what Rachel's other stories hold...
