“What are you doing?” she asked, trying to pull her hand away from him. She wondered what she had done to upset him, not understanding why he would be upset with her for helping him. Those emotions she did not understand were making her so confused, he was upset, but yet he was not. “Are you going to do what Leon asked you to? Are you going to kill me?” “What?” she exclaimed, shock coming over her face as she looked up into his worried eyes. It was obvious to her now that he had stewed over this since they had left her realm, but she had been trying to ignore this connection and hadn’t realized it. She had to make him understand, there was no way she would do that. He was her friend. They were in this together. She owed him that because she cared about him. More than she had allowed herself to admit before. It hit her then, these feelings that she was having for him. “No, I would never. Ash, I think-” Annalise wasn’t able to finish her sentence, because he was leaning in to her, his eyes closing as he closed the distance between them.
