Forget-Me-Nots: Poems To Learn By Heart (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

I love poetry and this book had many fun poems to read. They varied from quiet ones, silly ones, sad ones, and some were imaginative. I liked how they inculded family in some and there were some about grieving as well. I recal reading one about an absent father. I read many of animals and monsters, and some about just getting away. The message behind the book is to learn them by memory. They were catchy and some were repetitive so it wouldn't be hard. There were both really long ones and some really short ones but overall I enjoyed reading many of them. There were also tips in the back of the book on how to exercise your memory in order for you to learn them.Poem:How to Tell the Top of a HillThe top of a hillIs not untilThe bottom is below. And you have to stopWhen you reach the topFor there's no more UP to go.To make it plainLet me explain:The one most reason whyYou have to stopWhen you reach the top-is:The next step up is sky.-John Ciardi Poetry isn't my favorite. I mean, it can be lovely, or fun, or whatever, but I don't ever want to sit down and read an entire poetry book. So, the fact that I read and enjoyed this entire book is a pretty good endorsement. There's a good mix of different kinds of poems, which is fun. I'm not sure how easy all of them would be to remember, but there were definitely a few that I wouldn't mind knowing by heart.
