"Fortune Calling" is a touching story that called to me. The author has a real talent for telling a story in an almost poetic way. The feelings related are clear and precise and in telling this story there is an ease that made me not want to stop reading. I could relate to some of the inner-struggles and was moved by the emotions shared."Getting back in the car, I notice the sun beginning to set over the mountain. Somewhere, a log is burning, the sweet cedar wafting through the damp air. Life goes on, they say, so it will, even after him.Tina sang "What's Love Got to Do with It?" softly in the background. I drove on toward the farm." I have read some of this author's previous works, and the one thing that makes me pick up her books is the way that Hunter S.Jones seems to identify with the character. It is a bit like looking into the author's soul. How many of us have felt entirely hopeless and then have a kind of chance come along giving us a gentle nudge and pushing us along? It's like having an angel sitting on one shoulder and a naughty imp on the other. One keeps playing tricks on you and when you're completely shattered and broken, the angel gives you a hand.I was able to relate to the character of Dallas as she struggles through the mire of life. It's real life and reality sucks most of the time but life's never perfect, is it? The author conveys this in an almost lyrical way and the character comes to life brilliantly. A great read!
