French Children Don't Throw Food (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
I liked that this book sets out, using both entertaining anecdotal evidence and research-based evidence, that current trends in parenting in the US, UK, and I can add - Australia, is both overbearing and too lenient and raises difficult, fussy children that aren't much fun to be around (I can testify to this!). The book then gives practical insight into the alternative French-style of parenting (which I sometimes see glimmers of in my culture and, frankly, wish there was more of). To surmise, this book is both entertaining and informative and, I think best of all, let's you make up your own mind on which advice to take on board and which to tweak or ignore. I shall definitely be employing some of this book's strategies when raising my child (who is currently on the way), and I will recommend it to others (I honestly wish it was a mandatory read for all new parents!).
