This story is a wonderful example of a reluctant sub coming to realize there is a benefit in trusting a Dom, despite all his previous bad experiences, and despite his own reluctance of giving anyone power over his actions or choices. It also shows how patience (an enormous amount of it) can, and will, wear said sub down to the point where he can be honest with himself.Cody is extremely prickly, self-reliant (because he's had to be) and weary of ever trusting anyone again. He thinks he understands the rules of 'the game', but as he gets to know Tristan, he realizes that in all his previous sexual encounters he has only 'played' at being submissive. Learning to do it right is stressful and sometimes frustrating, but so much more rewarding that Cody can't let himself give up.Tristan sees something in Cody which tells him the younger man is worth the aggravation. With amazing patience and a strict hand, he gets Cody to open up, to see how much more is possible, if he can only trust Tristan - for now.If you like D/s stories with a psychological struggle, and partners who are falling in love as they get to know each other, you will probably like this story. Another great job from Kim. I would have liked to see more of the backstory for Cody though. What kind of experiences had he had to have such an idea of how his submission should be? And Tristan...where did his confidence and knowledge of his Dominance come from? I get the parent angle. Throw away your kids and they will flounder, raise them up and they will fly...but that doesn't explain how they came to have their D/s roles so firmly entrenched. There is every chance that I am being more wistful (for more story) then truly critical here. It is a great story. I just want, as always, more.
