Well I have to say first off, I am not normally a big UF fan, I love my romance but this was pretty good. I really enjoyed how the plot went with vampires and a heroine who's the vessel of an honest to god -goddess? It was pretty intriguing to me. The story is original and interesting but the only thing is I felt like I was missing a bunch of back-story. I feel that it could of have been better with more explanation. Here we have a hierarchy of Goddesses and vessels, a mother-house, where it is suggested they are all part of an organization. but, of the goddesses or the vampire hunters? And, The First, Rowans foster father, why is he called First? Is he the world's first vampire or the First, the leader, of all vampires? What does it mean to be a Vessel for a Goddess—is it possession, symbiotic, parasitic? The more Brigid asserts herself the less control Rowan has. There are things I feel we are expected to just know. Also the reveal of the vampire serial killer was a little quick after spending the whole book trying to uncover him, he was creepy, and I wish it was explored just a wee bit more. I would have liked a slightly longer fight sequence, or perhaps a few more chance encounters throughout the book, between him and Rowan. But overall I had a great time reading this book. Paranormal and urban fantasy readers, I recommend giving Goddess With A Blade by Lauren Dane a try. Such an amazing start to a great new series from Lauren Dane. Rowan Summerwaite is a one woman law force containing the vampires of Las Vegas and keeping them to their treaty, making sure they do not kill humans. When the new Scion, Clive, comes to Vegas Rowan wastes no time letting him know that she accepts nothing less than compliance. The attraction between them is almost instant but they know that the loyalties they hold make any kind of attraction hard to act on. When a powerful vampire begins to viciously kill humans and leave their bodies for the police to find, Rowan and Clive are in a race against time to find this powerful entity and keep the existence of vampires hidden. Really great, sexy read with an extremely kickass heroine. I’m really excited about the continuation of this series!
What do You think about Goddess With A Blade (2000)?
This book was interesting and witty. A nice take on Vampires that I haven't come across before.
