Vado controcorrente, lo so. Eppure a me Half bad non è piaciuto. La scrittura della Green è particolare certo ma rimane troppo semplice, non ricercata. E questa idea di alternare narrazioni in prima e seconda persona non è riuscita a farmi entrare in empatia con il protagonista. Si, Nathan soffre, vive chiuso in gabbia per anni, maltrattato e odiato e non si può non provare pena per lui. Ma niente di più. Non sono riuscita ad amarlo o a credere in lui, non mi ha trasmesso niente.(Spoiler)La prima metà del libro è lenta, poi migliora ma troppe cose non vengono spiegate. Ad esempio come fa il protagonista a scappare dopo che gli hanno fatto i tatuaggi? Riesce a uscire da questa sorta di prigione/bunker e non c'è assolutamente nessuno che lo ferma. Non ha senso. Il suo adorato fratello non fa nulla per aiutarlo o mettersi in contatto con lui, semplicemente spera che Nathan stia bene e sia felice. I cacciatori, fortissimi e tantissimi, non riescono a trovarlo nemmeno se ferito e mezzo morto. Bha...Mi è piaciuta la diade bene e male bianchi e neri eppure anche qui non viene approfondita. I bianchi ci appaiono come degli spietati aguzzini e dei neri non sappiamo molto. Non ci sono personaggi incisivi, a tutti viene dedicato poco tempo ma sono sicura che altri scrittori sarebbero riusciti a rendere quel tempo sufficiente. La Green no. Ha una bella storia tra le mani ma le manca la capacità di svilupparla al meglio, di creare quel mondo in cui far immergere e sognare i suoi lettori.Sono comunque tre stelle. Non è nè si nè no, un po' come quell'equilibrio precario tra bene e male così è il mio giudizio :) Nathan is a half blood, half white and black witch. His father is the most despised Black Witch of the current time and his mother was a loved White Witch. When we are first introduced to Nathan he is locked in a cage. We learn about his life in the cage and then the book switches to his childhood. The first half of the book was amazing and I could not put it in down. As the reader you want Nathan to get out of that cage and be happy. Unfortunately, there are so many things that go wrong. The second half of the book, or more specifically the last 70 or so pages were not as interesting to me. I felt that it was rushed and just not as enjoyable. However, Nathan has me and I want to know what happens to him and his loved ones. I am very much looking forward to the next book. Also I was very happy that the main character was a strong male.

Edgy and intense. A tersely written thriller of a fantasy novel. Recommended!
