Never read a MC before but it Lily White so I HAD TO READ IT :)This story has just the right amount of darkness and light to keep you on your toes. You never know what will happen next. The ending was quite unpredictable. First your heart cries out for life throwing Holly more dirt than she could possibly handle, then you are turned upside down again. I loved it. Just like any other book i have read by Lily, i get sucked into a truly dark story with no chance of finding a way out until the very end. I must say this is one of the more difficult reviews for me to write because I am extremely torn on Hard Roads by Lily White. If you follow my reviews at all you know that I am a huge fan of Lily White's writing. I fell in love with Her Master's Courtesan...it was right up my alley with the dark and erotic subject matter. When I read Target This she pushed me pretty close to my comfort zone with the psychological aspects of the subject matter and truly was a complete mindfuck kind of book. Now with Hard Roads, she pushed me right past my comfort zone into an area that I am not sure I like to be in yet the funny thing is, as dark as Ms. White writes, Hard Roads was the most romantic of all her books I have read.Hard Roads is an MC book. It is the story of Holly, the daughter of an MC Prez who is kidnapped and marked with a huge bounty on her head due to her father's wrong doings. JD, a member of a rival gang, is the first to capture the beauty and this is how the story takes off. I must say that Ms. White wrote Holly with so much spirit and fight within her she was 100% believable. To get inside her head and hear her emotions as she is passed around from thug/killer/drug lord was eye opening. I think as far as knowing what she was feeling, I understood her spot on. JD on the other hand is your typical biker, or so we think. Throughout the story we are shown that you can't judge a biker by his cut because JD turns out to be so much more than I could have hoped for. I keep seeing around social media that people are loving this new couple and I can totally see why. The push and pull they have and similarities were great to read on a page. The sexual chemistry was scorching hot and watching them fall in love was wonderful to see.But I have to give a disclaimer here and tell you where Ms. White pushed me off the ledge. Hard Roads is violent. I mean brutally so. The things that happened to Holly's captors and some of the other bikers in this story was hard for me to stomach. In my heart, I believe that some of this kind of violence does exist in this shady world of drug cartels and arms dealers. You definitely need to be prepared going into this book that there is a lot killing and in gruesome ways.That being said, I loved JD and Holly and their struggle to find their way back to each other. I thought Ms. White did a phenomenal job at depicting the MC world and their turf wars true to life....or as much as I can imagine it would be. If you like the grittiness of the MC world and not opposed to violence mixed with an incredible love story, then pick up this book....you will not be disappointed!
