Harry Potter Page To Screen: The Complete Filmmaking Journey (2011) - Plot & Excerpts
Wow. What a wonderful book! It goes through the entire process of making all the movies. Things like directors making the kids write an essay about their characters, casting and location choices, making all the different creatures (most of the special effects were real things they built, not just CGI, and involved laying in individual hairs). I love reading about different forms of storytelling, so I’m always interested in how books get turned into film. I feel like I can learn a lot about looking at stories in different ways to find the right way to tell one. And I couldn’t help smiling because wow, that had to have been the dream project for the set designers and prop designers and costumers—all that fantastic detail to make it really real, and no real price tag! Beautiful, beautiful artistic creation. It made me swell with happiness inside, knowing what it must have felt like to pull that off. This is probably one of the heaviest books I own! But it was well worth the price, I love it! It has exquisite photograph and drawing, plus all the information you want to know about how they transformed the Harry Potter from written word to the wonderful movies! I love all the information about the characters and how the actors got their parts, how they brought the characters to life, dressed them, and everything!
