Hatter M, Vol. 1: The Looking Glass Wars (2008) - Plot & Excerpts
After reading this story I really wanted to give it a 2. I'm not sure if it's because I didn't like the book so much or if it's just because graphic novels really aren't my thing. I ended up giving it a 3 because the illustration and the colors are fantastic. Also I found the "facts", questions, and contributions in the end to be quite interesting. This was a fast read but not something I would be interested in reading again. Mediocre at best. Not a lot happens until the end. I couldn't stand the art either. It's all scribbly and messy, which I understand is a stylistic choice. A lot of stuff about the world is just thrown at you with no explanation, like almost all the characters.And regarding the whole Lewis Carroll/Alice in Wonderland theme... This book just loosely stole some names & ideas and then made up entirely different characters. If you love the original books, there's nothing for you in this graphic novel. I will not be reading the rest of the series.

While Hatter is an interesting character, the Wonderland of Beddor's imagination doesn't thrill me.
