This graphic novel follows Hatter Madigan on his mission to find the lost princess Alyss Heart. This book is an interesting twist on characters found in Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Hatter and Alyss get separated coming through a portal and wind up in 1850's Paris. While searching for the girl Hatter seems to rely on his hat which turns out to be a deadly weapon. I enjoyed this book but it was very up tempo and hard to follow. However it is easy to re-read and short so you can go over it again and again. Content: the novel is dark and very violent which is accented by the detailed and gruesome illustrations. When I started reading this, I didn't like it much. It seemed a little forced, and in the beginning the background of the story seemed very uncomfortably unclear for me.I must note that by the end of this book, I was reaching for the other two I had checked out after it- glad that the series had continued. I loved the 'Millinary man' Madigan, and I love his quest... really interesting once you get into it- and I got very attached to him as a character. Good stuff!
Has nothing on the Looking Glass Wars series, but it is always nice to see Hatter Madigan.

The idea behind this was good, the actual book was not. The art is hard to follow at best.
