Classic Mary Calmes with a twist of paranormal.I quite enjoyed this sweet romance. The sweetness that Calmes is famous for is noticeably toned down for which I am grateful. The pacing is fairly quick and the paranormal aspect is not prominent. This story is heavily on the romance side but it was what I was expecting so I enjoyed the story for what it was.Julian and Ryan make a cute couple but not particularly memorable one. "Jael mi ha trovato e ha fatto di me un guardiano e basta. La parte reale, la parte vera, è solo quella di essere un uomo ed essere amato. Avere un cuore, una casa, questo è quello che sono, chi sono."Forse sono stata un pò cattivella a dare solo due stelle, fatto sta che questo libro sembra più una bozza, un'idea buttata lì per lì e mai sviluppata a dovere, impressione confermata dal finale che definire brusco è dir poco XD Julian è la classica finta acqua cheta, si presenta come un ragazzo creativo e un pò introverso ma in camera da letto diventa un dominatore e da il meglio di se...non a caso tutti lo vogliono e tutti lo cercano (in questo libro su 10 uomini 9 sono gay XD) ma lui è un tipo selettivo e monogamo, embé! XD Ry è l'esatto contrario, sembra un guerriero deciso e tutto d'un pezzo ma in coppia si trasforma in un'orsacchiotto di burro insicuro (?) La storia scorre senza grandi scossoni, solo nella parte finale, con l'ingresso del paranormal, prende vita. L'idea di guardiani, sentinelle e focolari ha il suo fascino ma viene appena accennata con una sommaria spiegazione e un paio di combattimenti in cui appare il prossimo protagonista...poi BAM il libro finisce e tu rimani lì a chiederti che cavolo è successo XD speriamo meglio nel prossimo, quest'autrice nell'altra serie mi era piaciuta di più! D:

This was a super fast enjoyable read. There seems to be a lot of different opinions on this series and I can understand where some people felt like the paranormal element kind of came out of nowhere but I actually thought it was done fairly well. Maybe adding in Ryan's perspective or a prologue about the warders in general would have helped pave the way but I liked it and I am looking forward to reading on!
