I’ve actually bought this the day it was released but couldn’t find the right mood to read it until today. Glad I waited, as this is in my opinion the type of story that should be read for its feel good qualities.Housekeeping is a fairly short romance but one that doesn’t feel lacking. I don’t feel rushed while reading and oddly enough I don’t feel cheated at its ending. I feel the author achieved what she set out to do and that’s painting a pretty picture of two normal guys finding their other half.Nicky finally discovers that he is not defined by a career and not having one can be ok. You don’t have to have to be a big shot to be somebody. Not having career ambitions doesn’t make you a nobody. It just makes you......YOU. We all have our paths in life and not all of us are lucky enough to find something we love or are very good at. This is a lesson I’m still struggling with on a personal level so I guess it struck a cord.Spencer has everything Nicky lacks. A great and lucrative career doing something he likes, a home, a purpose. He doesn’t really have a life though. No friends, no lovers, he’s lonely.Nicky needs a home to call his own, Spencer has a great house but needs someone to make it a home with. Nicky needs someone he can trust, Spencer needs someone to give him a shot. They each have their + and - , their ups and downs but they complete one another. Cheesy, I know, but they were so right for each other there’s no other way to put it.A great uplifting story that has just the right amount of sweet! 4.0 StarsWow. This book is yet another testament to why Kim Fielding remains one of my most favorite authors. Nicky's world is shattered by his cheating boyfriend. Leaving the loser puts Nicky out of a job and a home. Despite being nearly thirty, Nicky realizes he has no career and nothing to show for the years he worked in his ex's restaurant. He couch-surfs with friends until landing a job house-sitting. Nicky's love of cleaning soon makes him popular and the demand for his services skyrockets. Eventually, Nicky ends up house-sitting for Spencer Cartwright. Spencer - recently divorced and newly out - is a total slob. Nicky goes from being a house-sitter to Spencer's roommate and friend. His past, however, makes him hesitant to trust again. Spencer wants a long-term relationship with Nicky but must first overcome the demons from Nicky's past.I really liked this story. The writing was tight, the dialogue fresh, and the story moved at a good clip. I enjoyed both Nicky and Spencer and loved watching their slow burn. My one gripe? I wish the book was longer. I wouldn't mind revisiting with this engaging couple.Bottom line: Not enough of a good thing.
What do You think about Housekeeping (2013)?
Very dull. I was disappointed because a man that cleans is hot, yes? But this was very boring.
