The Pillar (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

I really enjoyed this book, (as usually happens with Kim's stories). This is a historical short, but not.. It has all the elements but the development and the ending add a sweet and interesting "happily ever after" sort of element. Faris is the herbalist/healer of town. He has a painful past that still torments him. He carries his guilt with him and doesn't think much of himself. He makes sure that his self-loathing is never forgotten. He's broken,he's pained, and he's lonely. He has a huge heart, he's compassionate and greatful. He normally paints this line between himself anf his patients... Until Boro.Boro was a slave who was abandoned to die. When Faris found him he took him in to cure his wounds and make sure he healed properly. Boro is sweet and sometimes uncertain. He speaks his mind, (now that he is free) and has a hard time setting a limit of questions per day. He's passionate and curious.I enjoyed seeing the development of their relationship. I loved the sweetness in each when they were together. The sex scenes were damn hot! -happy reader!!-. I liked the ending. Nice little read, recommended for those who are looking for an engaging HEA story ;) I don't read a lot of historicals, but the unusual setting of 15th century Bosnia hooked me and the compelling characters just did me in. This book is so rich it feels like a novel--every scene is drawn with the right amount of setting + characters, and not stuffed with facts and historical details. They're there, but the history doesn't overshadow this lovely story. No spoilers here, just a recommendation to have tissues handy when you read this book.
