In Vertrouwen (Romantic Suspense, #13) (2014) - Plot & Excerpts
648 pages of cracking, unputdownable thrill. I read Karen Rose for the first time, and I am already a fan. The narrative is absorbing, every character cleverly sketched, and a plot spun with a next-door feel. It has everything: intrigue, suspense, mystery, guns, police procedures, revenge, you name it.Paige Holden, a Private Investigator, is the only witness to a murder where the victim, in her final moments, reveals that the police are trying to kill her. The victim’s husband, Ramón Munoz, is in jail, serving a life sentence for killing a college girl – a crime he did not commit. Paige teams up with Public attorney Grayson and they try to find the killer. But wherever they go, the killer strikes first. Enjoyed thoroughly. Highly recommended for those who like reading crime fiction. Boy am I pleased to finish this. It was an excellent novel, but you need to be able to give it your full attention to get all the plot twists. Due to this, I found the book a tad hectic at the start as all the threads were being out, with new ones being added or connected as the plot developed. Once I'd gotten into the book though I struggled to put it down. The drama and suspense was gripping and by far the best I've read in a long time. I've knocked it down a rating though because of the time it took to develop. Personally I don't think it needed as many threads as it had and baring in mind the majority of the book spans roughly 3 days, it was a bit busy and therefore a bit less believable. Other than that I loved it and with definitely pick up another book by Rose soon.
