I probably would have enjoyed this book more if I had read it versus listened to it. I personally thought that the narrator was terrible! Most of the novel was read with a flat tone and, when she changed her voice for certain characters she ended up sounding silly. I had a hard time listening to her and actually looked the book up in the library to see if it was available so I could read it rather than listen to it, as I was actually enjoying the story itself. As it wasn't available I suffered through the remainder of the audiobook. The book itself was relatively enjoyable, although not the best book I've ever read. It was suspenseful, but the romance aspect of it fell a little flat and felt unrealistic and I couldn't understand why Lucy, the main female character, insisted on keeping so many secrets, especially since most of them really didn't seem like that big a deal and, in light of the fact that she had a killer after her, the smart thing to do would have been to fill the detectives in right away on some of them.I knew what was happening fairly quickly though, and I figured out who the killer was within the first third of the book. As I am typically terrible at figuring out mysteries like this I have to dock the book stars for that as well. Overall, the book itself warrants three stars and the narration a single star. That averages out to two stars. The premise is that someone was raped and murdered in the past, and people watched it happen. The killer is systematically seeking revenge for the victim. One by one, he is dropping those involved and its up to the detectives to stop him before he can wipe everyone out. When picking up this one to read I wasn't implicitly aware that this was considered to be romantic suspense. On the romantic side, it was “meh” at best. The suspense side was pretty good, though the book kind of dragged on a bit at times. This is the type of book that would have benefited from being a bit shorter and cut back on the romantic aspect (it really didn't add anything to the novel). Its not bad, but not great either. I wouldn't read this one again… nor am I moved from it. I’ll pass on the recommend on this one.

Enjoyed the suspense; the romance part was a bit cheesy.
