Invasion Of The Boy Snatchers (2005) - Plot & Excerpts
This book begins after winter break. Alicia spent her time in Spain, Massie and Claire went to Aspen, Kristen didn't go anywhere, and Dylan went on a cruise. Alicia's cousin Nina Callas comes back to America with her. At first, Massie is sure that the girl won't pose a threat to her seventh-grade social status since she has seen pictures of the girl with braces, zits, horrible clothes and terrible hair. But boy was she wrong! However, Nina underwent a transformation and Massie begins to doubt her theory and realizes that in fact, the girl may not only threaten her social status, but steal her crush "Derrington," too! Nina arrives to her welcome party dressed in a revealing dress, sexy shoes, and a thong that is shown purposely. However, that isn't the only thing bothering Massie for 3 weeks, Claire and her family will move into the Block's house for renovation of the guest house. Though she now considers Claire a friend, she cannot stand watching all of her clothes fall prey to Claire's clumsiness, ruining her wardrobe. But Massie has to be nice to Claire... because we have learned that Claire's parents have found a house in Chicago! As it gets nearer to Valentines' day, and the "Love-Struck Dance" that OCD is planning, Massie becomes worried when she notices that all of the Briarwood boys are taking interest in Nina. So she, Claire, and Alicia band together to make a plan to somehow get rid of Nina, once and for all. The plan is for Todd and his friend Nathan, who arrived at the dance for plan, to steal Nina's boots by asking her if she wants a massage. Nathan is to steal the boots while Todd is massaging. They saw the heel of the boots, just so that they are in tact but can be easily broken if walked in. As the dance draws to a close, Alicia is to announce the Cupid Award. It is given to Derrington and Nina. Derrington goes on stage to receive the award and does his famous move of wiggling his butt. As Nina tries to walk up, her broken boots callapse under her weight and she breaks both of her heels. The crowd starts to laugh as Nina continues to try to get up. The next stage of the plan is for Alicia to state on the microphone how Nina stole the items from the OCD students and staff. When Alicia announces this, an angry mob forms around Nina demanding for their things back. The last stage of the plan happens when Nina is completely embarrassed from the angry mob. Pictures of Nina's "ugly days" fall from the ceiling for everyone to look at. This is finally the end of Nina. The next day, the Pretty Committee go to the Tomahawks game against Greyson. As Massie watches the game, she and Claire are still mad at Cam and Derrington for not going with them to the dance. A little bit later, Massie receives a text message from Derrington, asking her to come to the bleachers ASAP. Althught Massie is actually very excited, she pretends to be not interested. Claire does a coin flip to determine if Massie should go or not: heads, Massie should go, tails, Massie stays. Claire says that it's heads, but Massie can tell that it was actually tails. Massie goes to the bleachers and finds Derrington waiting there. He tells her about the "Spanish Curse" that Nina put on the Tomahawks and Massie finally understands why the boys didn't go with them to the dance. He also gives Massie his Cupid Award and Massie gives him her "M" brooch in which Derrington says that "he'll wear it forever". The last chapter is with Claire acting very nervous. Eventually, it is told that she is kissing Josh Hotz at the exact same time that Cam comes in. this makes the candy hearts message 'will I open my eyes and see Cam after my first kiss? yes' come true.Claire jumps from Cam coming in and because Cam is so upset, he runs off, with Claire calling his name.
I loved this book. When I first read this one it made me want to read the others in the series. I liked this one because it was alright in the beginning. As I kept reading it going into it a bit more it kinda seemed like eh. It's an okay book but I didn't really like reading about girls who "rule the school". Other than that I liked it because of their individiual personalities, the story is okay but to me it seemed a bit rude. Long story short, Clair is supposedly moving but in the end she ends up moving into the Block's guest house until they build their new home, during this time she becomes even greater friends with Massie they get in a fight or two, for now Clair shares a room with Massie and they go to school and all that together. Alicia comes back from Europe with her cousin Nina who begins the mess. Massie really doesn't like Nina and then sooner or later Clair and Alicia join her. Kristen and Dylan like Nina as a friend. Nina cares alot only about her looks and guys and she is usually after the guys Massie Clair and Alicia like, and they really easily get sick and tired of her. Nina at a Briarwood game gives the boys a note that says they have a spanish soccer spell and they will win the games, if they don't have any contact with the other girls, but if they do they have a curse. After this the guys are obviously dumb enough to believe this crap load, and don't talk to the girls and they feel like getter back at Nina in different ways after finding out about the note. Then they find out Nina stole from other kids, they find the stuff and plan to get back at her at the "love struck dance" and they later reveal to everyone what she has done and also ruin her with past photos of herself, after that no one really likes her at all, and she goes back to Spain. After that everyone gets back together and is happy except for Cam and Clair.
What do You think about Invasion Of The Boy Snatchers (2005)?
Seriously? This book, actually this series, makes me want to either a.) vomit or b.) gouge my eyes out with a very pointy fork.First, what the hell is the point to this book? Is it "I'm twelve years old and I run the school; if you don't listen to me, I'll ruin your life"? Or is it "I don't like her - let's destroy her life"? Seriously? I WAS a twelve year. I know no one, who acted like that. Sure, there were bitches; but seriously?Second, the way Massie puts everyone down is really annoying. I want to smack some sense into her. She puts even her friends down, and thats just sad. There aren't any redeeming qualities about her.Third, the writing sucks. I'm not sure if it was the way the girls acted or if it was the writing that made me want to gouge my eyes out.The only redeeming thing to come out of this book is Claire, who still has some of her old personbalty and her friend Layne, but she still doesn't save the book.

Invasion of the Boy SnatcherLisi HarrisonRealistic Fiction252 pagesended- 11/5/12Summary~Claire is moving in to the Blocks estate and Alicia's cousin is coming to town! Nina, her cousin is really, really pretty and all the boys are crazy over her. Even Derrington and Cam, Massie and Claire’s dates to the cupid dance. Nina is also a thief and only nice to the boys. Massie and her "group" try many ideas to get Nina to stop. But will they work? You will have to read the book to find out!Review~I thought this book was great! It was really a breaking point for Massie and trying to figure out who she is and who her real friends are. For example Massie knows she is never going to get along with Nina or even like her once she found out Nina was the thief and stole some of her most prized possessions. I love this author and this is one of my favorite series (along with Pretty Little Liars!). The author does a great job with description and making the characters come to life!

People like Nina Callas do exist and are just as slutty and bitchy as she is. I felt sorry for Claire when her father announced that they were going to Chicago but it turns out later that William, Massie's father, gave Jay, Claire's dad, a big promotion and a raise and the wives get to renovate the house, calling it a "Winter Project." But, due to this fact, Claire has to move into Massie's room, which seems to bother her a lot (the way my big sis did when we had to share rooms!). Anyways, Massie and Claire are invited to a party at the Rivera's for the arrival of Nina Callas, Alicia's cousin. Massie's perspective of Nina changes (she expected to see a geeky girl with a unibrow) when she sees how incredibly hawt she is and becomes, well, angry as the boys' attention shifts from the Pretty Commitee to Nina. At first, I thought of Nina as innocent because, come on, she's new but she begins acting like a whore after she steals the Pretty Commitee's dates to the dance. Of course, Massie can not let this bitch steal her popularity crown and goes on a mission with her friends to search for evidence that Nina is a fake and she does, eventually. She finds that all of Nina's boots belong to her sisters' in Spain and she's the cat burglar so they expose everything, even her old geeky pictures at the dance, leaving Massie as the undefeated queen at OCD and Nina as a liar and a thief. This book is a real treat but you have to get used to the tireless mentioning of what each character is wearing every page. :D
