Smoothing her hand over the bed all she felt was sheets. Her bed was empty, and she sat up quickly, peering into the room only lit by the greenish light from the lamp. He wasn’t in there. Did he leave? Oh my God, did he leave? He left her without saying goodbye? Scrambling she untangled herself from the covers and got out of the bed. She had to see for herself that he wasn’t in the house. She pulled the straps of her lingerie back up over her shoulders and smoothed the silk back down, as she walked hastily out of the bedroom. The spare bedroom’s door was open, and he wasn’t in there, so that would only leave the living room, kitchen and dining room. She stopped short at the edge of the hallway that looked out into the living room. There was Skylar sitting in the semi-dark on the couch with his face in his hands. “Sky?” she said softly, as she didn’t wish to scare him. He looked up, his emerald gaze direct. When he didn’t say anything she rushed head on, needing to know he was okay.
