Jane Jones: Worst. Vampire. Ever. (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

I'm really only giving this 4 stars for the writing. I mean, it was pretty good, I guess. I read it all in a day. But the plot was a little jumpy (like the ending, not really a spoiler but you should probably stop reading this if you don't want spoilers- when she made her decision after not having brought it up in a long time and with the indication made indirectly to the reader) and the main character, Jane, wasn't very clear on her beliefs (like not contacting people for decades and then suddenly being okay with glamouring and getting into social situations with hardly a second thought?).Also, I may just be biased because it was my first vampire series, but I DEFINITELY got a Zoey-Heath-Erik vibe off of the main love triangle. I mean, even the main teen vamp protagonist was like Aphrodite (and her name was Astrid- they both start with A which probably means nothing but you never know). I mean, I enjoyed reading it, but the characters who should've been deeper (like Timothy, the "beautiful, brooding bloodsucker" who was only actually broody for all of the first few chapters) weren't and the rest of the characters didn't have any real redeeming qualities (Eli was cute, but really not that cute; Zachary was smart, but still acted like a child; Jane's parents were sweet but really not too bright). But, separate from all of that, I did enjoy reading this book and I do like the writing style (even if the plot wasn't nearly as good as it could've been). Best. YA. Vampire. Book. Ever. Or at least of what I've read. The story flowed smoothly, and the characters were well-developed. Jane Jones could be any high-school outsider. She just happens to be a vampire--a blood-intolerant vampire. Going from a nobody to someone being fought over is every outsider's dream. But the price she has to pay is pretty great. There is a wonderful twist to this story that was not hinted at in the synopsis, and was VERY surprising.Family plays a central role in this book, and is a positive thing; even though the members could be described as dysfunctional, society-wise, they are very much a solid unit for each other.Loved it--I hope Caissie St. Onge has more on the way!

What do You think about Jane Jones: Worst. Vampire. Ever. (2011)?

I was hoping for a fun distraction, but this wasn't as entertaining as I hoped.
