This was my first book by this author and let me say I really enjoyed Miss Laura Kaye! I felt like I wanted the story to go on but at the same time I was happy it ended when it did. The characters were great and I'm glad that there are other books with the supporting characters in them so I can continue it as a series eventhough it was good as a stand alone as well in my opinion. The scenes were hot, the story well thought out and I liked that the girl didn't have to be a victim that needed saving. She knew she came from a shit background and she was good with her issues. Yes she second guessed herself a little but it was because of his issues coming into play that brought out her own vulnerabilities. Loved it! Couldn't put it down! "One Night with a Hero" is the second book in "The Hero" series by Laura Kaye. This story focuses on Brady Scott, older brother to Alyssa Scott and best friend to Marco Vieri, the lead characters from book one, "Her Forbidden Hero", and Joss Daniels. The two meet and agree to a "one night only" tryst but there's an obvious connection between them that makes them regret not taking the risk of asking for the other's number. However, fate has other plans for them... ^.^This was another great story by Laura Kaye and had a good mix of humor and drama. Brady obviously has the same issues that Alyssa has but he refuses to see himself as any sort of victim, therefore making him unable to acknowledge that he suffered just as much as his sister did at the hands of their father. On the other hand, Joss has always had to deal with rejection and when she finds herself in a situation with Brady, his rejection is more than she can take. I was pleasantly surprised that the issue between the two wasn't resolved simply by one saying those three words that you would think would make all the bad stuff go away. After all, that's not how things really work out in the real world. I'm glad they both had to work at their own happily ever after because that makes them realize that the other person is, indeed, worth the effort. ^.^"One Night with a Hero" gets 4.5 stars out of five, rounding off to five stars for GR's purposes. ^.^
