There was a large wooden bookcase with a set of encyclopedias and legal manuals in the corner. The sun was rising, its first rays coming in a window on the side of the room. The mayor walked over to his large mahogany desk and sat down behind it. There were two leather chairs set up directly in front of the desk. “Sit there,” he said pointing at one of the chairs.
