Oh, I really liked this book! I liked the history of India during Partition and the impacts on Muslim families, being brought right into the extended families in this novel, the insights into journalism, and the dramas that are just part of life and relationships. An insert of September 11th events from an interesting perspective - and some surprises regarding family secrets.I like this author and plan to read her newest book, The Sweetness of Tears. After reading The Sweetness of Tears, I knew I had to read this book, and I am so glad that I did. Although the story told is much different, there are similar underlying themes, such as family and culture. This book also contained an element of surprise, however, that the first one did not. From the very first page, the reader is exposed to something, though exactly what that is is not revealed until near the end of the book. Such a worthwhile read!!
What do You think about La Bambina Ribelle (2009)?
Enjoyed the story, but thought the last 70 pages were rather abrupt and disjointed.
