Bored to tears by page 60; Couldn't bring myself to finish this book. Written by Lauren Conrad (someone from "The Hills" or some other teen "reality" show), and to be honest, I feel my 8 year old niece could write a more interesting, articulate book with more adult language and less of the word "like" scattered within at least every fourth sentence. Like, seriously, this book was so, like, Dull! Like. While this should fall under realistic fiction, it's the world of Hollywood. Lauren Conrad as a reality TV star writes about what she knows: girls in their late teens / early twenties who are thrown together in L.A. and their lives are videotaped and slightly choreographed by a TV producer. The writing was not good and the storyline was predictable. After having read a few long books, this was what I needed to get back to reading. While not a compelling read, I read this book in about two hours. With that type of commitment, I will probably read the other books in the series when I want to read without thinking.I"d recommend this book to people who like light novels about girls moving out on their own trying to figure out friends, jobs, and boys. This one is just set in a society that thrives in putting on masks and living lives for the press. The potential controversies in this book are the expected ones for a book in this setting: underage drinking and partying.
What do You think about L.A. Candy (2009)?
Love LC - loved her style of writing. Very easy summer read, just the way I like it!
