I love the photos and helpful tips all throughout this book. I think it is great for those who are new to beauty and want somewhere to go get a lot of basic information. Somethings I didn't know and were helpful to me, others times the information was about things that I already knew and felt most people know. However, I would still recommend Lauren Conrad's book "Beauty". It is set up beautifully, and incorporates some of her own life experiences and tips that keeps the book interesting and fresh.The hardback version has nice, thick, colorful pages and overall seems like a sturdy, well-made book. It covers a lot of topics that go beyond just make-up, like having a healthy lifestyle, minimizing stress, and chemicals to avoid in products so the reader gets more than just advice for how to look and feel beautiful on the outside, but to have a healthy beautiful on the inside.If you're interested in beauty, looking for some inspiration, or love Lauren Conrad, then definitely check this book out! Just don't expect a lot of advanced beauty, makeup, or hair advice/techniques if you are already familiar with most things beauty related. I didn't really learn that much from this book, though it was still helpful. For instance, Did you know that in the '60s fake eyelashes would stay on for a week? Yeah. A week. (They must have been using Gorilla glue for those things.)There is a very helpful list of ingredients to avoid in makeup and nail polish, that I will be writing down and carrying in my purse until I have it memorized. This would be a great self help book if you were just starting to use makeup and/or style your hair. It is written in and easy to understand, user friendly style that makes you want to experiment with your look more.All in all, I would recommend to select friends. (But, in the nicest way possible. You have to careful in how you recommend a Beauty book to a friend. ;) )
