La Danza De La Gaviota (2009) - Plot & Excerpts

a further installment of police inspector montabal and his small office of cops in Sicily. this one particularly seems to have lots of "funny" dialog a la marx brothers, and as in many of the previous mysteries, a case ripped from the headlines of a corrupt and failing italian state. this one chronicles the time italian officials transshipped chemical weapons from an unnamed ex communist state to an unnamed arab state. camilleri's mysteries are lighthearted, funny, sexy, and gruesome and sad. a mix of philosophical and humanist elements alongside fairly detailed everyday (modern) life in sicily and italy. noir lite though for the most part. Livia comes to take Inspector Salvo Montalbano on a three-day holiday, but naturally things go bonkers at work and he completely forgets about her for 24 hours because his deputy Fazio disappears without warning. Bodies start piling up, actually they are pulled from adjacent wells, and Montalbano has to connect the killings and find Fazio, which he does in his usual inimitable style. Fazio is found, but has memory loss and Montalbano has to protect him from unsavory element and find out what is going on at the local port.

What do You think about La Danza De La Gaviota (2009)?

Not sure I know what happened as the plot is much more complicated than it needs to be.
