La Macchina Della Morte. Notizie Da Un Mondo In Cui Le Persone Sanno Di Che Morte Morire (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
Humorous collection of stored based around a what if scenario....What if there was a machine that told you how you were going to die? How would this change society and how would it change the way you live your life.It was a great read and very easy to pick up, read one of the stories and put back down. The book is humorous but has a way of making you think about your life and mortality through a slightly different lense. Someone was talking about this book online and it sounded so interesting I impulse bought it at like two am and read it all the day it came in the mail. It was incredibly interesting - like the other reviews have summarized, it's a book of short stories all centered around the idea that a Machine exists that, with a sample of your blood, can tell how you die in an incredibly ambiguous vague sort of manner. OLD AGE can mean you die in your bed at the age of 80, or you get hit by a car being driven by an 80 year old man. The Machine seems to love to mess with people, and the Machine is never wrong. The stories range from existential prose about the meaning of life to a single sentence, and each story has an illustration to accompany it. Some stories I liked more than others, but each one was a different take on the idea, which was really cool - I was afraid that it might start to get a little old by the twentieth story in the book, but each one took the Machine of Death idea and twisted it just a little bit. I'd definitely recommend this anthology - no matter your tastes, there's bound to be a story in here for you.
