Ladybug Girl At The Beach (2010) - Plot & Excerpts
This is another ladybug girl story. This time, ladybug girl is going to the beach for the first time. She is rather scared of how noisy and loud the beach is. She overcomes her fear when her favorite bucket gets washed away from the shore. She splashes into the water and finds that the water is not so bad after all. This is a story that children can easily relate to and also contains components for teaching problem solving skills. Lulu and her family go to the beach one day. Lulu is so excited to be there. She did not expect the ocean to be so big and noisy. So, Lulu decides to build a sand castle instead. She was hot and wanted to go cool down in the ocean, but the waves were so big. So Lulu and her dog go exploring on the beach discovering things like crabs, shells, and seaweed. When her favorite pale is taken by some waves, she has to rescue it. Lulu discovers she is in the ocean and isn’t afraid at all. She spent the rest of the day splashing and swimming in the water. This book would be suitable for a young audience. There are great illustrations that young students would enjoy. I would read this to my class to teach them about facing their fears. I would also teach them that sometimes the things we fear turn out to be things we really enjoy. This is a great book to read to students right before summer break too. Soman, D. (2010).
