Pings from the vehicle’s global positioning system showed that the Tsarnaevs were less than five miles from their own apartment in Cambridge—and very near Reynolds. Reynolds had spent seven years as a police officer in Watertown, an unpretentious community northwest of Boston known as a melting pot of immigrants, young professionals, and working-class families.
