This was a fun read. I liked the heroine,Fortune, a CIA assassin hiding in the bayou 'cause there's a price on her head. She tries to blend in, but a suspicious deputy keeps finding her doing illegal things--though not the important illegal things; however, her new friends help her, when they're not complicating matters, and then there's an old murder mystery. The Louisiana background is well done. It's really hot and muggy there! And then there are the alligators--and raccoons. Well, that explains the noises in the attic... After cocking up her last mission Fortune Redding is banished to a small town in Louisiana. Disguised with the help of fluffy hair extensions and pink nail polish, she arrives as Sandy-Sue….. But trouble has a way of clinging to her like the stench of the nearby island, aptly named Number Two. High jinx and hilarity ensues.Yes it’s a bit predictable, the characters are all slightly over the top and cliché and the plotline holds little surprise but this was a perfect little read to follow a very harrowing novel about Chechnya. I could put this one down at a whim and pick up again with no fear of losing the plot line.It was a fun mix of Miss Congeniality meets the Golden Girls. Would make a nice holiday read.
