(Note: This is a review for issues #1-4 that I have purchased individually. Any features or additions in the TBP are not included in this review.)So, summer of 2014 I worked my first full time job working as a camp counselor. Was I facing down hidden caves, supernatural animals, or even unfortunate canoeing accidents? No, but it made for no less of an interesting experience with an excellent group of girls in the middle of nowhere, which is why I'm happy that Lumberjanes can bring me back to that, at least a little bit.A very cute and cool addition to my comic collection, I've been really enjoying Lumberjanes so far. The plot is still growing at this point, with issue #4 leaving off on somewhat of a cliffhanger, but everything flows smoothly and keeps up a good pace. I enjoy all of the characters immensely and look forward to seeing more of them in the next few issues. The art is also amazing. Entire pages are filled with color, making the everything great to look at and a perfect companion to the story.Overall, I would highly recommend this book to comic fans of any age, or anyone interested in purchasing some comics for younger girls (or kids in general!). Though I've had the pleasure of reading quite a few comics with amazing adventures had by interesting women, they aren't all exactly kid-friendly. That being said, Lumberjanes is great for all audiences, so be sure to pick this one up! I didn't really get into LumberJanes at first, the quirky art style is reminiscent of AdventureTime and screams digital. The writing was similar, and goofy. But maybe halfway into the first issue, or maybe by the end of it, I really liked it. One thing to note, it's actually quite clean. I didn't feel bad reading or showing it to my kids in the slightest. The art style grew on me and the interaction of the characters was pretty fun. I'd look for subsequent issues. Not my favorite comic, but reminiscent of a Saturday Morning Cartoon aka All fun.
What do You think about Lumberjanes, Vol. 1 (2000)?
A downright fun adventure with wonderfully witty dialogue, intrigue and excitement!
