Hank knew the newlyweds needed some time alone, so he and Walter took George for the afternoon. Once Madeline had put away the dishes they had used during brunch, she joined Caleb in the parlor. She was about to take her usual seat in the rocking chair when he held out his hand to her. She smiled and took his hand, pleased when he pulled her onto his lap.
