She lifted her head and Eli’s arm tightened briefly around her shoulders before letting go. When she sat up and looked groggily out the window, she was surprised to realize they’d left the highway. They were now high in the mountains on a small, winding road that was completely covered with snow. The surrounding slopes were thickly forested and she didn’t see any houses around. “How long have I been out?” Case glanced back at her. He looked stressed and tired. His mouth was tight and his eyes were dim. She felt guilty about that for some reason even though she couldn’t think of anything she’d done to stress him out. Was he worried about her rejecting the rest of the pack? She almost asked him, but she held her tongue. If that was what was bothering him, what could she say? He wouldn’t be reassured until she actually claimed them, and she wasn’t sure she was ready to do that today. “We’re almost there,”
