I little more action in this one and a little more angst. I can't say this was a high four for me be it was entertaining to watch Grey get all grumpy about not getting to feed and confused about the possibility of not getting sex either. John and Caleb become the typical couple that don't talk to one another so each one of them is bailing on the relationship feeling that it is the other one's fault while they try to solve one of John's cases. The of the book set up the ground work of a conspiracy plot that I really look forward to reading. Read it, loved it, recommend this book (and likely this series) to anyone who likes urban fantasy done well. Book one introduced us to Caleb who through unlikely circumstances became the new host for Gray an eons old Drakul who until Caleb had always possessed corpses and used they're bodies to hunt demons. Now Caleb and Gray are learning to co-exist in Caleb's body newly enhanced with Gray's significant supernatural powers. The symbiotic entity that is Caleb and Grey is beginning to be recognized as a potential asset to John's boss as SPECTR and allowed to consult on John's new case. After all Grey via Caleb hunts demons far more efficiently than any gov exorcists ever could. After all while they're goals are not the same they do run parallel. In fact Hawk underscores just how serendipitous Caleb's possession is as the agents go up against a new foe who like Caleb's possession does not go according to all the rules of what they thought they knew. I just can't say enough good things about this series so far...hope as I continue to read it this level of quality is consistent.
